Lady Gaga is all about empowering youths, so her latest campaign doesn’t really come as a surprise. What does though is the fact that she’s willing to reveal even more about herself, in a bid to become even more relatable for her fans.

On her official LittleMonsters page, Gaga has posted a series of photos of herself in nothing but her underwear, kicking off the Body Revolution campaign.

Like many other things that Gaga endorses, this too is aimed to prove that there is no such thing as a “perfect” figure or perfect individual.

Gaga gives herself as an example: fresh off countless reports that she’s gained so much weight her own record label has “ordered” her to go on a diet, she’s the very picture of confidence in the new shots.

In brief descriptions to them, the singer opens up about her history with eating disorders.

“Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15,” Gaga writes in the caption to one photo.

“But today I join Body Revolution, to inspire bravery and breed some mother[expletive]-ing compassion,” she adds.

As one can easily imagine, response to her pictorial has been amazing so far, with many fans reaching out to her to let her know that her example is literally saving lives.

“can't stop crying. Gaga i'm battling the same thing right now; you met me in Sydnney […] And from then on i've been trying to recover so much but it's been killing me, i've been relapsing a lot lately and all i do iscry about my body and i feel like i wish i never did recover but this. looking at this is making me strong [sic],” one Little Monster writes, sharing her own experience of struggles with bulimia.

“You made me brave Gaga! I finally got the cancer removed from my neck, listening to your songs helped me through it,” another writes.

“you are making us feel comfortable and beautiful in our own skin,” says a Little Monster, while another uses Gaga’s own words to explain what they’re feeling: “we are stronger than the pressure to be perfect, we’re beautiful because we’re born this way.”

As for the pressure to be perfect, no one knows more about that than Gaga herself: just recently, she had to talk about her weight gain and re-assure the media and “haters” that she was not “ashamed” for being a bit curvier these days.
