One of the highlights at the gala celebrating Bill Clinton’s 65th birthday and the 10th anniversary of his foundation with “A Decade of Difference” was Lady Gaga’s eccentric performance.

The singer took to the stage in an elaborate, oversized set piece which also included a piano. After an extended intro, she launched into “Born This Way,” adapted to include references to Clinton’s birthday.

These were well-received, with the cameras often zooming in on the Clinton family, who were clearly having the time of their life, dancing and singing along to the song.

Gaga followed up with an energetic version of “The Edge of Glory,” which was equally appreciated.

However, when it was time to leave the stage, she chose to do so in a manner that was deemed rather offending by many.

Instead of thanking the crowd and taking her leave, Gaga was rolled out off the stage to the sound of her “Government Hooker,” whose inclusion in the gig was deemed a gesture of disrespect to Clinton.

Then again, it’s not like organizers didn’t know who they were inviting, Gaga’s fans are defending her.
