14 DAY TRIAL // Lady Gaga is very much in control when it comes to her music and the manner in which it reaches the fans. However, at home, when the crazy wigs and the stilettos come off, she is very much a housewife, willing and actually eager to do her man’s bidding.
This surprising fact about the “domestic” side of Gaga comes from the singer herself, who spoke about her relationship with actor Taylor Kinney in an interview to promote her latest single, “G.U.Y.,” for which she premiered a new music video a couple of days ago.
The fact that she spoke about Kinney at all is surprising on its own, because she doesn’t like to do that as a rule, but hearing her say she’s “submissive” really takes the cake. Gaga and Taylor have been an item since 2011.
“He's totally in charge. I mean, when I am home, I am like, shoes are off, I'm making him dinner. He has a job, too, and he is really busy! I'm in charge all day long, the last thing I want to do is tell him what to do. It's not good for relationships to tell men what to do,” Gaga says, as cited by Us Weekly.
Imagine this side of her, if you can, the next time you see photos of her out and about, wearing the most nonsensical-looking outfit imaginable, with crazy makeup and even crazier hair.
While whatever Gaga chooses to do at home is no one but her own business, not few were those who took offense with this view of hers on what a healthy relationship should be like and how women should never “tell men what to do.”
She’s setting feminism back ages, especially because she’s a very high profile and heavily mediated public figure, feminists are saying. However, perhaps it would be best to wait for the full interview to come out before passing this kind of judgment: chances are this comment is misleading because it’s been taken out of context.
As noted above, Gaga and Taylor have been together since 2011, after meeting and falling in love on the set of one of her music videos. Gaga laughed that he leaned over and kissed her passionately on the lips even though the script made no mention of that.
Since then, they have struggled to keep details of their relationship private, but she did say once that they would have never been together if he didn’t match her in weirdness.
“He is extremely strange, actually, and we complement each other's weirdness. And you know, at the end of the day he's my best friend. And having your lover be your best friend, I mean, it's the best thing ever,” she said, as cited by the same media outlet.
