Lady Gaga makes shocking revelation: “My passion is so strong I can’t sleep – I haven’t slept for three days”

Back when Lady Gaga put on a couple appearances live in concert where she was barely able to stand, but not to sing the words of her biggest hits, rumors started to circulate that she might be working too much and overexerting herself. In a recent interview cited by MTV UK, the hitmaker reveals that she has periods in which she gets so hyped about what she’s doing musically that she can barely close an eye for many nights in a row.

In all fairness, when talk began to pick up that she might be endangering her health by overworking herself, Gaga responded that she would rather die than ever be in a position in which she’d disappoint her fans, her little monsters. Judging by her most recent interview, it would seem the singer puts in 150 percent of everything she has, even if that means not sleeping for 3 nights. The result is more than worth it, Gaga assures her fans.

“My passion is so strong I can’t sleep – I haven’t slept for three days,” Gaga says. Even if that’s the case, she would never dream of taking pills to bring herself down and give her body a night’s rest like regular people, the satisfaction fully compensates for the lack of sleep. “I lie in bed and try to pray and breathe. I have a very overactive mind. I’m the sort of person who’d never take medication to calm myself. It’s maddening. But I love what comes out,” she adds.

Speaking of maddening, Gaga is ready to accept whatever comes her way, even if that means a stay with a mental institution. “If my destiny is to lose my mind because of fame, then that’s my destiny. But my passion still means more than anything. For some people, fame kills it and becomes more important than the music or the performance,” the singer says. Of course, fans know that Gaga has spoken before about fame and how much relevance it carries for her, though clearly this is a first in terms of revealing she suffers from insomnia.

The other day, Gaga also announced she had already started working on her third album, whose first single was done. The material, she said, would be an “anthem for our generation,” having been inspired by nothing but pure love for her millions of fans from around the world.
