Sir Elton John says Lady Gaga is “pure genius,” will have very long career

Fans already know that Lady Gaga and Sir Elton John go a long way back, having performed together a couple of times and even working on her upcoming album. However, when it comes to singing her praise, John simply can’t state enough how much he admires her.

In a recent interview cited by Wenn, the legendary singer compares Gaga to John Lennon in terms of how nice she is, and with the likes of Rod Stewart in terms of how much staying power she has.

Gaga is not just a meteorite that shines brightly now and will be gone in months, as some speculate of her career: she’s here to stay and will undoubtedly still be here many years from now on.

At least, that’s what Elton John believes, who says she’s “pure genius” in the way she restlessly works on her public persona and image.

“I love her, she’s absolutely amazing. We’ve become friends. What I like about the Gaga most is that she’s amazingly polite and respectful to everyone around her,” Elton says of his younger, more outrageous friend.

“What I loved most about John Lennon is that he was like that. He once gave my mum a lift to the airport and came to my agent’s wedding,” he adds.

But Gaga is also an extraordinary artist, not just an amazing person.

“The Gaga is like that. But the greatest thing about her is that she manages to let everyone think they know everything about her but no one knows anything,” Elton John says.

“She’s a phenomenal star – definitely someone who will be taking on the old sods like me, McCartney and Rod Stewart doing big tours for years to come. Pure genius,” he adds.

However, Sir Elton John is not very generous with his kind words. In a previous interview, he put in his two cents about the state of the current British pop music, saying all its representatives are worthless.

“It’s hard to tell Girls Aloud from The Saturdays. And then there’s Cheryl Cole… It’s all [expletive],” John said. Oddly enough, in the same interview, he revealed he had no idea who Kim Kardashian was.
