14 DAY TRIAL // Lady Gaga has been called anything from visionary pop artist taking mainstream pop into the realm of art, to a Madonna, Christina Aguilera & co. copycat. Billboard readers consider her the most overrated artist of the year.
As 2011 is drawing to a close, all sorts of charts and lists are starting to emerge, meant to offer the people at home a proper look at the year, in areas like music, film, fashion and many others.
In music, for instance, Gaga takes the top position in sales for being the best selling artist now in showbiz. She also takes the prize for being the most overrated, MTV News informs.
“Lady Gaga has been named the Most Overrated artist of 2011 by voters in Billboard's Year in Music poll,” the e-zine says.
It was Billboard readers who voted in said poll.
“The Marry The Night singer topped the list with 30% of the votes, beating second-place Britney Spears with 29% and Justin Bieber, who came third with 21%,” MTV News further says.
In other words, while she continues to be extremely popular and bankable, Gaga also remains controversial enough to get just as many people to openly dislike her.
Then again, they say all good things usually generate such polarized strong reactions. With Gaga, it certainly makes sense: you either love or you hate her, there's no in between.
One thing that can't be denied though is that she remains the boldest artist out there when it comes to fashion, as another poll by Billboard cited by the aforementioned e-zine reveals.
No less than 30% of readers have voted Gaga as number 1 on the Best Fashion list, followed closely by Rihanna with 25%.
Nicki Minaj, of whom many say she looks to Gaga for inspiration for her outlandish costumes, only got 13% of the total votes, thus landing in at number 3.
