The singer was suffering from altitude sickness and thought she'd share with her fans

Oxygen masks selfies are becoming all the rage. After Miley Cyrus documented her hospital stay earlier this year and inundated her social media feeds with photos from the hospital, it's now the turn of pop star Lady Gaga to do the same since she's also been hospitalized.

The singer decided to share on Instagram the fact that she had to go to the hospital because she was feeling under due to a case of altitude sickness. The photo shows a close-up on Gaga's face hidden behind an oxygen mask late on Wednesday, while she commented “Altitude Sickness is no Joke! (sic)”

Don't worry though, Gaga couldn't have felt too bad if she had time to put on make-up, fake eyelashes and even take a selfie. If she were really in pain, she'd be under medication and not bothering to send her fans updates about her current situation.

We should mention that after looking at the photo, we have come to the startling conclusion that Lady Gaga has put on her oxygen mask upside down. If you look carefully, the underside of her mask has a narrowing right at the bottom. That bit is made specially to fit the bridge of your nose inside and thus make the mask fit snugly on your face.

Moreover, the fact that the oxygen tube seems to be connected to the upper side of the mask, when in fact it should be feeding into the bottom, is a dead giveaway that Gaga doesn't know how to put on a mask. But let's not be mean, maybe she was trying on a new look for her show.

Gaga, however, doesn't seem to be bothered by the fact that the mask fits poorly on her face and she looks to be sucking in the oxygen greedily as she stares at the camera. If ever there was a bigger cry for attention ...

That being said, altitude sickness is fairly common in Denver, Colorado. The tourist information board website offers an entire section on this disease and how you can combat it. One of the main rules, unsurprisingly, is to avoid strenuous physical activity that could cause the symptoms to get worse.

The hospital look was made popular by Miley Cyrus way before Gaga struggled with an oxygen mask. Cyrus shared snaps in hospital beds, with IV drips and even with the oxygen mask on her face, as fans pitied her and wished her a speedy recovery. At least her mask had an octopus on it, Gaga's is just a plain, run-of-the-mill hospital oxygen mask.
