Singer stuns with her edgy fashion sense once more

Lady Gaga is as popular for her music as she is for edgy fashion sense, and it is precisely the latter that got tongues wagging again as word of her photo spread for V Magazine got out. V is, as many know by now, a fashion mag so it’s no wonder that publishers wanted Gaga for a spread – and even included the much-talked about and somewhat derided Nasir Mazhar gold orb headwear.

Aside from the many creations that the singer gets to don for the photoshoot, which include Givenchy, Balmain, Louis Vuitton and Gucci, one photo has her in nothing but the Mazhar space-orbit inspired hat that she first debuted on live TV on Ellen DeGeneres’ show. With the golden headpiece and a blonde wig (powerfully contrasting with the purple makeup), Gaga puts on a much more daring pose than she did even for the cover of the iconic Rolling Stone magazine, where her entire body was covered only by well-placed transparent bubbles.

“The irrepressible pop sensation Lady Gaga is making quite a name for herself this year. Coming off a string of hit records and an eye-popping Rolling Stone cover, she makes her first fashion appearance inside V60, photographed by Sebastian Faena and styled by Nicola Formichetti. Gaga tries on the season’s foremost flashiest threads (Balmain, Givenchy), experiments with outrageous headgear (the now-infamous Nasir Mazhar gold orb piece), and talks Mugler and makeovers with writer Mark Jacobs.” V Magazine says of the upcoming issue.

Speaking of Rolling Stone, it was the first major music-oriented publication to hail Gaga as the rising icon of our times and definitely the most promising female performer of the moment. The issue in question, which put Gaga on a par with Madonna in terms of breaking musical barriers and coming out with her own personal style that would later shape international tendencies, also included a lengthy interview with the singer, in which she addressed topics as varied as fashion, music and her personal life.

“I don’t feel like I look like the other perfect little pop singers.” “the defining pop star of the year” was saying at the time. In the same interview, Lady Gaga also admitted that doing nothing was pure torture on her, which is why she always tried to keep as busy as possible. “The truth is, the psychotic woman that I truly am comes out when I’m not working. When I’m not working, I go crazy. […] My true legacy will be the test of time, and whether I can sustain a space in pop culture and really make stuff that will have a genuine impact.” Gaga further explained.
