Lady Gaga has released the cover art for her latest single off the “Born This Way,” “You and I.” Unlike previous covers, this doesn’t feature Gaga but her male alter ego, the Italian mechanic Jo Calderone.

Calderone first made an appearance in the press one year ago, when Gaga was just getting started on the promotion for the new album.

At the time, he landed the cover of Vogue Hommes, while also telling the fashion bible that he never thought he’d be a model, but that Gaga herself had inspired him to pursue this career by telling him that he’d been “born this way.”

Calderone is now back, after a prolonged absence. He’s shown on the cover of the single in two shots that bear somewhat of a resemblance to a mugshot, from the front and the side.

In one photo, he’s staring furiously into the camera as he sucks on a cigarette than dangles on his lips. In the other, he’s seen inhaling the cigarette smoke, with the same angry / menacing expression on his face.

“You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don’t love yourself. #You&ISingleCover,” Gaga writes on Twitter, in the post accompanying the official photo.

She doesn’t say more about why she brought Calderone back just now, but fans are already saying that he may be her next “star” in the upcoming video.

And one is definitely coming, Gaga was saying on the same channel some days ago.

“The Music Video for ‘Yoü and I’ will be my 1000th Tweet,” the singer announced. Right now, she’s at 992 tweets, so fans know that they don’t have to wait for much longer for the video to premiere.

As noted above, because the singer’s male alter ego is on the cover of the single, it is believed he will also be in the video (with or without Gaga). Keep an eye on this space for when the clip is out.
