Not very long ago, a significant number of people living in Indiana, US were found to suffer from obesity. Thus, this state’s population was declared one of the most obese in the country.

Wishing to help remedy this problem, PETA, which more often than not tends to focus on animal rights rather than on public health, asked that Governor Mitch Daniels agreed to put up an ad displaying the organization's “Lettuce Ladies” on the front steps of the Statehouse.

For those unaware, PETA's Lettuce Ladies are basically women dressed up in... lettuce, who supposedly help promote vegetarianism by regularly appearing in public and showing off their environmentally friendly outfits.

As far as this organization is concerned, if Indiana's citizens agree to go vegan, not only will countless animals escape the suffering the food industry is inflicting on them, but public health will also benefit as people will begin to lose weight.

“PETA's ad would help keep Indiana residents lighter and healthier,” explained PETA's Executive Vice President.
