Late last week, Lady Gaga admitted that recent photos of her in concert had not been doctored, she’d really gained this much weight. A new report suggests that her record label has stepped in to “order” her to lose the extra pounds ASAP.
After a series of very unflattering pics emerged online, Gaga came clean about her new, fuller figure, saying she’d packed
about 25 pounds (11.3 kg) over the summer because her father had opened an Italian restaurant and she could not get enough of his food.
At the same time, the pop star said she believed she had no reason to be “ashamed” of her new figure, but
Radar Online implies that her record label might not be of the same mind.
Bosses at Universal Music Group sat Gaga down and explained to her that she had to lose the extra weight because it did not do her any favors on stage.
She was also told that, because she’d indulged in too much comfort food, she would have to have all her costumes for the rest of her tour replaced and refitted.
“The tight, skimpy outfits weren’t doing anything for Gaga’s new fuller figure, so Universal ordered more flattering and better fitting costumes for the rest of the tour,” a spy says for Radar Online.
“No one likes to criticize someone who has put on weight, but she has been showing some serious muffin top, especially when wearing tight suspenders. It just wasn’t a good look and was getting unnecessary criticism, so they moved fast to nip it in the bud,” the source goes on to say.
“Gaga has an incredible appetite for Italian food, which stems largely from her roots. It’s very easy on tour to get hooked on a diet of pizza and pasta because they are comfort foods – and when you are away from home you always long for something that reminds you of where you came from,” adds the insider.
Gaga doesn’t even need to gain that much weight to stand out because she’s tiny and every pound is visible on her frame, the same source goes on to say.
Still, considering her love for fashion, Gaga will most surely comply with the request.
“Despite the weight gain, Gaga won’t give up wearing the meat dress that has become a focal part of the live show. Gaga would rather starve to death than lose that dress,” the unnamed tipster says.
