Not long after Dell unveiled its large, professional IPS monitor, LaCie has decided to add its own contribution to this market, thus unleashing the 324i, which boasts the 324i P–IPS panel, for realistic colors without discoloration or patter distortions.

Taking a break from the consumer front, LaCie has turned its gaze towards the professional market and delivered a new 24-inch monitor.

This newcomer goes by the name of 324i and is a liquid crystal display equipped with a 10–bit P–IPS panel.

The newcomer has a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, plus a typical brightness of 400 cd/m2.

The display also features a GTG (gray to gray) response time of 6 ms, as well as a wide color gamut, 102% NTSC and 98% AdobeRGB.

“With wide gamuts that are not disturbed by irregular patterns, digital artists can rely on true colors that maintain the integrity of their work,” states the official release.

Furthermore, the contrast ratio can be calibrated by means of the LaCie blue eye calibration tool, a software that can also enhance soft proofing accuracy, useful for prepress professionals.

"For years, LaCie has designed monitors for digital artists who demand color precision," said Ahcene Tirane, LaCie Product Manager for Displays.

"From concept to creation, LaCie developed the 324i with the highest level of color accuracy, and with a firm belief that when professionals have a tool that enhances their workflow, they can deliver their best work," Tirane added.

Mostly, LaCie expects this display to be used in illustration, prepress, web design and photographic workflows.

Other specifications include three USB 2.0 ports, Component, DVI and DisplayPort inputs, a HDMI connector and a stand that can swivel pivot or tilt.

Finally, the product is available through LaCie Store Online or through LaCie Color Partner and LaCie Reseller+, the price being of $1,249.
