LaCie announced that the company has updated its USB 3.0 product-line to include 2nd-generation USB 3.0 products dedicated to the Mac user base. Two external hard drives and one super-fast USB flash drive will be making their way into Apple’s stores this month.

LaCie says it has re-engineered its USB 3.0 spec to take full advantage of computers that use Intel's Ivy Bridge processors with native USB 3.0 interfaces. That includes the entire line of Macintosh computers, desktop and portable.

The company’s new USB 3.0 storage solutions include the new RuggedKey, a 32GB flash drive that achieves top speeds of up to 150MB/s (one of the fastest USB keys on the market), and the Porsche Design P'9223 and P'9233 external drives.

All benefit from performance enhancements within OS X Lion and Mountain Lion, LaCie said. The company’s second-generation USB 3.0 solutions will be available worldwide through the LaCie Online Store, resellers, and the Apple Store.
