LaCie has recently announced that its Neil Poulton-designed 4big Quadra storage solution will now provide its users with an impressive up to 6TB of storage space. The company's product has been designed as a complete four-bay RAID solution for small servers, creative pro workstations or offices that require large storage capacity for different purposes, including backup of important files and data.
The 4big Quadra has been designed to provide support for seven RAID modes, including RAID 0 and RAID 5, which can deliver optimal performance and data protection. With the help of the native RAID controller, the company's RAID solution can offer burst transfer rates reaching a maximum of 200-230MB/s eSATA connection. In addition, the 4big Quadra comes with support for Apple's Time Machine, making it an ideal product for Mac users who require fast, high-performance and large capacity storage solutions.
"The LaCie 4big Quadra definitely sets a new standard in RAID Technology for creative professionals and small sever backups," said Arnaud Prézelin, LaCie product manager for Creative Pro solutions. "For instance, the 4big Quadra enables digital content creators to work on multiple HD video streams or to manage RAW photos libraries with live effects."
To deliver such a versatile solution Lacie has featured its 4big Quadra product with several connectivity options, including eSATA, Firewire 400/800 and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interfaces, enabling maximum compatibility with today's Mac or PC systems. In addition, the company also claims that its solution saves from 30 to 80 percent more energy as compared to current, traditional RAID towers.
As far as pricing and availability goes, the company announced that it would deliver 2TB, 4TB and 6TB solutions sometime next month. These will be available directly from LaCie or LaCie’s specialized dealer network, and the manufacturer's suggested retail price will start at $849, excluding VAT.
