LaCie Announces a New Line of Mobile Drives

- Superior design and performance

By: Alexandru Pancescu, Hardware Editor

As the mobile storage market is growing and customers are seeking new and improved solutions for all their external storage needs more and more companies are devoting resources in order to keep pace with the current industry trend. One of the hardware manufacturing companies that made a big name on the portable storage market is LaCie, a company known for its superior quality devices that are offering pleasant design choices and top of the line
performance.

The latest line of portable storage devices from LaVie is called Little Disk family and it is available in a wide range of capacities from the tiny 30GB drive to the serious 250GB external hard disk drive. All products from the new LaCie line are coming with superior design lines as they were imagined by Sam Hecht, a well known and respected industrial designer.

On the outside, the Little Disk family comes in a thin and lightweight form factor that increases its mobility and thanks to their high gloss finish and interface cover that protects the fine integrated connectors, this LaCie family of products is well suited for business and home use as well.

''Sam Hecht is a wonderful talent who understood LaCie’s customers in his design of the Little Disk family. He created a product that we believe will receive positive feedback from fellow designers and users alike,'' said Nolwenn Rozen, LaCie product manager. ''Designed for simplicity, the 1.8- and 2.5-inch drives are extremely portable and are bus powered, eliminating the need for A/C power. So whether you are on a bus, taking the train, or relaxing at the park, your data is always accessible.''

As the LaCie new portable storage solutions need no driver to work and because they come pre-formatted, their installation is a simple and direct process, no matter the hardware platform of the host computer system or the running operating system. The new Little Disk line of products is available under several sizes like the 1.8 inch disk that supports USB 2.0 and can store between 30 and 60GB of data, the 2.5 inch drive that too uses the high speed USB 2.0 interface and stores between 80 and 250GB. The LaCie combo drive is also based on a 2.5 inch hard disk drive and it works with both USB 2.0 and FireWire, while being available in storage capacities of 120, 160 and 250GB.
