Early last week, LaCie announced its new line of LaCinema media storage solutions, offering users a choice for a home entertainment device that can store their media libraries, while also providing a number of features to support a true multimedia experience. Coming to expand its LaCinema family, LaCie also announced the introduction of the new LaCinema Classic Bridge, a home media player that enables users to take advantage of their own storage solutions, thus reducing the price tag of the media player, and to also customize the solution to their own liking.

“There is no question the need for digital storage has become essential in the home. However, most storage solutions do not offer users an easy way to interface with their valued content,” said Patrick Salin, Multimedia business unit manager, LaCie. “Now, with the LaCinema Classic Bridge, users can take their storage solutions and transform them into fully-functional multimedia players, allowing them to conveniently browse and play content from within their entertainment set-up, without thinking twice.”

The LaCinema Classic Bridge is pretty much the shell of the previously released LaCinema Black media players, enabling users to choose the means by which they will add storage to the device. According to LaCie, there are two ways in which users can expand the storage on the new Classic Bridge solution, namely, either by using an internal hard disk drive, or by connecting an external storage solution through an available USB port.

As with the LaCinema Black media players, the new Bridge solution will enable support for a number of multimedia file types, including MPEG4, MP3 and JPEG as well as HD-JPEG. In addition, LaCie also bundles an HDMI cable to provide users with a full support for their HD setup.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Classic Bridge is already available with a starting price tag of US$99.
