The first press photo of LG Escape for AT&T, along with some of its specs, leaked yesterday, though we did not have any info on the phone’s availability and price tag.

Today, major carrier AT&T officially confirmed the upcoming availability of the LTE-enabled LG Escape smartphone.

Customers will be able to purchase the device from September 16 via AT&T’s brick and mortar stores and online for only $49.99 USD (40 EUR) with a new two-year agreement.

This is an impressive smartphone for $49.99. Running Android 4.0 and packing a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, a qHD true-color IPS screen and cool features like our new browser bar, customers looking for incredible value will quickly select the Escape,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility.

This is one of the cheapest 4G smartphones in the AT&T portfolio, and comes with pretty powerful features. Firstly, the device runs Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

Secondly, LG Escape is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The phone sports a 4.3-inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution, and packs a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, but no LED flash.

There’s also a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, as well as NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.

According to AT&T, LG Escape also comes with something called Browser Bar powered by Skyfire’s Horizon Browser Extension. This is an innovative browser toolbar extension that provides users quick access to their favorite social media pages while browsing the internet.

LG Escape allows users to capture and share whatever life sends their way with its powerful dual-core processor, true-to-life screen and smart camera features. And on AT&T’s expansive network consumers can get the best possible experience with Escape by using its LTE capabilities to the fullest,” said James Fishler, senior vice president of marketing and go-to-market operations, LG Electronics USA.
