Australian wireless carrier Telstra is reportedly gearing up for the release of their first tablet PC that would offer support for its upcoming LTE network, namely the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.

The Android-based tablet PC was already made available for purchase around the world, yet it seems that a new version is headed to the market soon, and that it would offer support for LTE networks as well.

Rumor has it that Samsung is considering the unveiling of the new device as soon as next week, during the IFA 2011 conference in Berlin, and that it would be accompanied by an LTE-capable Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone.

In Australia, Telstra is planning to fire up its LTE network later this year, and it seems that the wireless carrier might have the new LTE-capable Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet PC available for purchase soon after.

Basically, this would be the very first LTE tablet PC to land on shelves at Telstra, and chances are that it would become available for purchase sometime in November, the same time when the 4G network is fired up.

Based on Google's Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system, the tablet PC would pack a 1GHz Dual-Core Tegra 2 CPU, complemented by a 1GB of RAM, for increased performance capabilities.

Moreover, the tablet PC should sport a 3.15-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with 720p video recording capabilities, complemented by a 2MP camera on the front, for video calling.

It would also sport a 1280×800 (170ppi) WXGA PLS LCD display, along with the option for 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of internal memory.

The specs list of Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE would also include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, as well as 21Mbit HSPA+ 850/900/1900/2100MHz capabilities, as well as a 6000mAh battery.

Apparently, November is the time frame when Verizon Wireless might have the LTE tablet PC available for purchase for its customers as well, which suggests that other carriers might release it too at that time. (via)
