Australian mobile phone users will soon get a taste of two new LTE-capable smartphones, on the airwaves of wireless carrier Telstra in the country.

Both of the said smartphones should arrive from Samsung, and are said to be none other than the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Note handsets.

They will land on Telstra’s LTE network soon, a recent article on Ausdroid reads, though specific info on when that might happen has not been unveiled for the time being.

Telstra’s internal systems already show these two devices, which suggests that they will make it on shelves soon. However, since nothing is official, we’ll take this with a grain of salt.

Galaxy Note is currently on its way to the market in the United States on the airwaves of AT&T, and will make it to Canada via Bell, Rogers and Telus too, which means that it is compatible with 850MHz 3G networks.

Samsung has already confirmed plans to launch the device in Australia, and it should hit the market with the said 3G connectivity inside, as well as with 1800MHz LTE capabilities.

Ausdroid also notes that Vodafone is also gearing up for the release of this device or that it is at least testing it.

As for the LTE-flavor of Galaxy S II, it was made official in September last year during the IFA trade fair in Berlin, and has already made it to shelves in some markets around the world.

The mobile phone packs a series of enhancements over the original Galaxy S II, including a larger touchscreen display and a faster application processor inside, in addition to the 4G connectivity capabilities.

Rumor has it that Telstra and Samsung could make an official announcement on the availability of these two devices at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. The phones should hit the market soon after.
