Today, mobile phone carrier AT&T announced the release of two new Android smartphones that pack support for its 4G LTE network, namely the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and the HTC Vivid, and announced that they will both be put up for sale starting with November 6th.

Both these devices will pack support for the carrier's HSPA+ 4G network as well, in addition to offering LTE capabilities

Moreover, the wireless carrier announced that its 4G LTE service will launch in Boston, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Athens, Ga. on that day, and that it will be expanded in 9 markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.

Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and HTC Vivid are only two of the LTE devices that AT&T promised for the ongoing year.

Of the two, the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket is the fastest, packing a 1.5 GHz dual core application processor and featuring a price tag of $249.99 (around 180 Euros) when made available for purchase one week from now.

“Lightning fast reflexes powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and AT&T 4G LTE speeds make the Galaxy S II Skyrocket faster for Web browsing and all your favorite apps. A SuperAMOLED Plus display spanning 4.5-inches is the brightest, most colorful screen on the market,” the wireless carrier notes.

“The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket will arrive in AT&T company-owned retail stores and online Nov. 6 for $249.99 with a two-year commitment.”

The new device arrives on shelves with a large 4.5-inch SuperAMOLED Plus display that can deliver a 800×480 pixels resolution, and also features 16 GB of on-board memory, which can be expanded by up to 32GB via a microSD memory card slot.

The new mobile phone features an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with LED flash and 1080p HD video recording capabilities, along with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera to enable video calling.

On AT&T's LTE network, users can benefit from data plans starting at $15 per month. All plans offer access to AT&T’s national Wi-Fi network, which features over 29,000 hotspots.

Available monthly plans include:

- DataPlus provides 200 megabytes (MB) of data for just $15 per month. An additional 200 MB of data usage is $15.

- DataPro provides 2 gigabytes (GB) of data for $25 per month. An additional 1 GB of data is $10. Customers who want to use their device as a mobile hotspot can sign up for DataPro 4GB for $45 a month, which lets you tether or share your data connection across multiple devices.
