DROID Bionic might be on its way to Verizon this week as the fourth smartphone to offer LTE-connectivity capabilities on the wireless carrier's network, but it seems that more similar devices will be released on shelves in the near future, and that one of them will come from Samsung.

The company that just unveiled the largest Android-based smartphone in the world, namely the Galaxy Note, will launch a new LTE-capable handset at Verizon soon, following the release of DROID Charge earlier this year.

The phone in question reportedly sports the model number SCH-I405, should arrive on shelves as the Samsung Stratosphere, and can be admired in the leaked photos attached to this article, courtesy of Pocketnow.

Featuring a sliding design, the new mobile phone seems pretty appealing, though specific info on the hardware it will come to the market with was not made available for the time being.

However, it appears that all about this mobile phone will be unveiled to the world as soon as this week, given the fact that Verizon is rumored to plan on launching it in the next few days.

Featuring LTE connectivity and a sliding QWERTY keyboard, the new device should arrive on shelves as mid-range handset, being no match for the powerful DROID Bionic that sports a 4.3-inch screen and a dual core application processor.

Samsung Stratosphere (SCH-I405) is expected to arrive on shelves with a five-megapixel photo snapper on the back and with a 1.3MP camera on the front, as well as with an “awesome” display.

The handset should pack 2GB of storage space, most probably expandable through the addition of microSD cards. The rest of the phone's specs are still a mystery at the moment, it seems.

Rumor has it that the new device will hit the market with a price tag of $150 attached to it with the signing of a contract agreement, and that it should be launched along with the aforementioned DROID Bionic and with the BlackBerry Curve 9370 Apollo.
