14 DAY TRIAL // LSI has just announced its new lineup, made up of SSD drives with PCIe interface and the software solutions for the dynamic cache storage, on their official website.
The product family includes the Nytro XD PCIe SSD with intelligent caching software and the Nytro MegaRAID RAID card with caching SSD built-in. Separately, LSI is also offering the predictor software tool to help companies find the right acceleration method for their usage profile.
The LSI Nytro WarpDrive refers to the second generation of SSDs with a PCIe interface from the company and is designed to provide high performance and system responsiveness by increasing the rate of input-output data and reducing the latency.
The Nytro WarpDrive will be available in capacities ranging from 200GB to 3.2TB in SLC or MLC NAND flash, using LSI’s SandForce controllers and LSI SAS controllers.
Its aim is to replace the I/O performance of large arrays of hard drives and it requires much less cooling, power, as well as less room in a datacenter .
The LSI Nytro XD is designed to cache the data from storage configurations such as SAN and DAS and consists of a Nytro WarpDrive accumulating the cached data and a caching software like the Nytro XD. LSI’s Nytro XD caches the most frequently accessed data on the Nytro WarpDrive.
According to the manufacturer, in some cases, the solution can provide a 30-fold increase in productivity with several times reduced latency without the need to modernize and modify its whole IT-infrastructure.
The LSI Nytro MegaRAID is a development of the popular solutions CachCade RAID and is intended to build a RAID-arrays with caching in flash memory, instead of using an array of external solid state drives.
The new items will be available in the second quarter of 2012 with prices starting at 6600 USD (5000 EUR) for the Nytro WarpDrive, 9400 USD ( 7000 EUR ) for the Nytro XD and 1699 USD (1300 EUR) for the Nytro MegaRAID.
The company also offers a software utility called LSI Nytro Predictor Software Tool, designed to analyze the load on the client system and make recommendations for choosing the fitting product from the new LSI Nytro line.
