I can’t defend the song but I can explain the intention behind it, he says

Country singer Brad Paisley has been having a very rough week, mostly because of a duet he recorded with rapper LL Cool J, “Accidental Racist,” which emerged online a couple of days ago. It’s now LL who’s defending it.

Following the uproar, Paisley did a few interviews to try and defend it. LL Cool J stopped by Jay Leno’s the other night and stressed that he could not defend the collaboration – but he could (and would) offer an explanation for the intention behind it.

Check it out in the video below.

Speaking of the controversial line, “if you don't judge my do-rag, I won't judge your red flag,” LL said, “When you think about a kid like Trayvon Martin and think about some of the things that happen in society based on clothing, when you put it in its proper context, it makes sense.”

“I would never, ever, ever suggest that we should forget slavery and act like that didn't happen... But you know what, if the playing field is unlevel and you think it's unfair, then maybe putting down some of that baggage may help you make it up that hill a little easier,” the rapper added.

We’ll see if this will help him and Brad weather the storm.
