Have you been mulling over getting an LG G3 smartphone? Well, if this is the case, then you might want to put off the purchase for a little while, maybe until the end of the month.

LG has a surprise for those looking to pick up its latest flagship, the G3, in the form of a promotion that’s set to kick-start later in February.

The Korean electronics giant will be offering a virtual-reality headset especially designed for their flagships.

The accessory will be made out of plastic and is based on Google’s Cardboard device. The concoction uses the G3’s screen to allow users to interact with VR apps and games downloaded from the Google Play Store.

The setup consists of neodymium ring magnet on the side of the VR that works in concert with the magnetic gyroscope sensor inside of the G3 to allow users to browse through options without using their fingers and the phone’s touchscreen.

LG is challenging Samsung in the VR zone

LG is trying to offer an inexpensive alternative to Samsung’s Gear VR which works with the company’s Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet.

And by offering the VR headset free of charge for every flagship purchase, LG hopes to boost slowing sales.

The LG G3 features a spacious 5-inch display with advanced 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution with 538 ppi, which will probably allow users to enjoy extremely sharp VR images.

The handset runs on a quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset fitted with 3GB of LDDR3 RAM. It also takes advantage of a 13MP rear shooter which enjoys company’s own Optical Image Stabilization+ system.

The flagship originally shipped with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, but interestingly enough LG has been among the first device manufacturers to pick up the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and offer it to its flagships. So you can update the LG G3 to the new build and be off the hook with updates for a while.

LG says that the VR bundle will be made available later this month. Moreover, when purchasing an LG G3, customers will be awarded an in-box code giving them access to download a free VR game called  “Robobilteration.”
