South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is reportedly gearing up for the launch of Windows Phone 8 devices this year, after registering little success with its previous handsets running under Microsoft’s OS.

The company hasn’t launched a Windows Phone device for quite some time now, but it seems that it is considering the new platform version from Microsoft a more viable option.

“We will release quite a number of new Optimus devices this year and LG also has some new smartphones in the works, that will run Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8,” an executive and LG local partner said, koreatimes reports.

No specific info on these devices has been unveiled so far, nor on their specific release dates, but we should be able to learn more on them in the not too distant future, so stay tuned.
