While various companies have been trying to innovate and grab end-user attention with new types of mobile computers, such as dual-screen notebooks, LTE-enabled laptops or mobile gaming rigs, LG has quietly been working on a CULV mobile PC that has now been launched in South Korea. Known as the T280, this machine aims to combine the mobility of an ultra-portable with the performance features within Intel Pentium or Core 2 Duo processors, as well as the inherent functionality in the Windows 7 operating system.

Measuring 293 (W) x 200 (D) x 16.7 ~ 31.5 (H) mm, the T280 comes with the Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 central processing unit (CPU) that has 3MB of cache and whose clock frequency is set at 1.3 GHz. End-users can go for a different processing option, namely the Intel Pentium SU4100 CPU, whose frequency is also 1.3GHz but with the cache memory limited to 2MB.

Each of these processors can be paired with 2GB of DDR3 1066 memory and the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD. The configuration comes with a 320GB or 500GB hard disk drive (HDD) and an 11.6-inch LED-backlit HD display, whose maximum resolution is of 1,366 x 768 pixels.

In addition to these processing, memory, graphics and storage specifications, the T280 CULV laptop features Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b / g / n Wi-Fi for wireless communications and a six-cell Li-ion battery. As for design, the mobile computer has a wide keyboard, a touchpad with integrated buttons and an overall weight of 1.39 kg.

LG will be shipping the device pre-installed with the Windows 7 home premium operating system. Currently available in South Korea, the T280 carries a price tag of roughly $993. Unfortunately, the company has not disclosed when, if ever, its new product will make it to other markets as well.
