After seeing such ludicrously large prices as $120,000 / €89,000 for 105-inch Samsung and LG UHD TVs and knowing that OLED technology most assuredly costs more than LCD technology, I had resigned myself to expecting a huge tag whenever LG finally got around to launching a large-size OLED TV.

For once, though, I may actually be pleasantly surprised. If HD Guru got things right, then the first OLED TV from LG may debut with a price five times lower than expected.

Admittedly, LG previously revealed OLED TVs, even if it hasn't put them up for sale. That $30,000 / €22,400 model of 77 inches in diagonal comes to mind, complete with UHD support.

Now, though, LG is preparing a 65-inch OLED 4K TV (3840 x 2160 pixels) with a price of just $6,999 / €5,228. Well, that's the lowest possible tag LG could live with anyway, and it would still be twice what an LCD UHD of similar size requires. The likelier price is closer to $8,999 / €6,718 though.

OLED technology brings with it deeper blacks and overall better, more vibrant colors. Other assets that Sony intends to install on the displays are 3D support (passive), Miracast/MHL (to display phone content on screen), and very thin bezels.
