Offered by Telus

Telus, the third largest mobile carrier in Canada, is readying the release of a new LG handset, which will be named LG KEYBO. This is not a completely new device, but only the Telus-branded LG enV2, already available in the US (offered by Verizon Wireless starting April 30).

The release of enV2 in Canada is not an official thing but, according to MobileSyrup, the handset is already into Telus' schedule for an upcoming launch.

When closed, the enV2 / KEYBO looks a bit weird, only offering an awfully small display and a bigger than usual alphanumeric keypad. But the true capabilities of the handset are unveiled when it gets opened, as it hides a full QWERTY keyboard (with dedicated gaming keys) and a 2.4 inch TFT display with 260K colors and 240 x 320 pixels.

The rest of the features packed in the enV2 / KEYBO include: CDMA EV-DO connectivity, a 2.0 Megapixel camera with video, Web browser, email and Instant Messaging, Bluetooth, Music and Video players, dual speakers, USB, expandable memory (up to 8GB) and a battery capable of providing up to 5.3 hours of talk-time and up to 21 days of stand-by time. The handset weighs 122 grams (4.23 ounces) and, when closed, it measures 101 x 54 x 16.5 millimeters (4.00 x 2.13 x 0.65 inches).

Telus will be offering the KEYBO as a response to the LG Rumour announced not too long ago by Bell Mobility, the other CDMA Canadian carrier and Telus' direct competitor. As the KEYBO, Rumour packs a full QWERTY keypad and is the Canadian version of LG Rumor, released in the US since last year.

For the moment, there are no details about the price of LG KEYBO, but since Verizon offers its US version for $129.99 with a 2-year contract agreement, Canadian users should expect to pay about the same amount of money for the QWERTY handset.
