Parks Associates has conducted a research concerning Mobile Entertainment Platforms and Services and has reached results that show LG and Samsung as the leading mobile-phone brands in the US. They have managed to surpass the other two leading handset manufacturers, Nokia and Motorola.

The research conducted by Parks Associates has
gained considerable advantages ahead of those from other companies in terms of mobile TV, music and games support. More than 10 percent of LG and Samsung phone owners have reported the fact that they have and use mobile TV on their handsets. Only 8 percent of Motorola mobile phone owners have this feature, whereas none of Nokia users benefit from this technology.

LG has been the leader in this ranking, closely followed by Samsung. Motorola finished third, while Nokia has been lost from sight because of the few and little evolved entertainment features in its handset. Only 6 percent of Nokia phones let their user download music tracks, compared to more than 20 percent for LG and Samsung cellulars.

"Nokia needs to introduce more advanced phone models if it is to succeed in the high-end and midrange markets", said Yuanzhe (Michael) Cai, director of broadband and gaming, Parks Associates. The entire picture proves to be little encouraging for them, as "The challenge is even more acute now that the Apple iPhone is stirring up competition in the premium handset market". The fact that Nokia's high profit sales are based mostly on their low-end phones is well known, but this leaves this company out of the race for high tech performances.

The Mobile Entertainment Platforms and Services survey has been conducted over the Internet, on 2,000 people over 13 years old. They answered questions concerning the way they use their mobile phones. Moreover, the study also regarded the type of applications and business models that consumers show interest in using.
