To promote the upcoming AT&T release of the LG Thrill 4G, also known as LG Optimus 3D, Gameloft and LG have announced a 3D Gaming Tournament and spectacle at San Francisco’s Ferry Building Marketplace that will debut on August 10.

The tournament is part of LG's marketing campaign “Bring Your World Alive,” which started with a series of Facebook banners inviting gamers to win a trip to San Francisco to compete in the world's first N.O.V.A. 3D Gaming Tournament.

During the competition, teams of game winners of the contest listed on Facebook will use the LG Thrill 4G while playing Gameloft's popular Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance (N.O.V.A.) 3D game.

Player who score higher will be put head-to-head, after multiple preliminary battles, for the chance to win N.O.V.A. Intergalactic Gaming Champion and be awarded more than $10,000 worth of LG products.

LG’s partnership with Gameloft allows us to deliver the best in mobile gaming. N.O.V.A.’s fast-paced gameplay and detailed environments highlight the best aspects of glasses-free mobile 3D. For $99.99, LG Thrill 4G users will get one of the market’s most advanced smartphones with unrivalled 3D and gaming capabilities,” said Tim O’Brien, vice president of marketing for LG mobile.

In addition, everything that is happening on gamers' Thrill 4G screens while playing N.O.V.A. will be displayed with a 3D mapping projection on the prominent Ferry Building for all onlookers to enjoy.

Gameloft and LG are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on mobile devices by taking advantage of glasses-free 3D technology. With LG Thrill 4G, players can experience N.O.V.A in 3D like never before,” said Baudouin Corman, vice president of publishing in the Americas at Gameloft.

On related news, LG Thrill 4G is expected to be launched through AT&T in the coming weeks for $99.99 with a new two-year agreement.
