After announcing the Xnote P220 in Korea, LG has now come forward with new information regarding the release date and the specifications of this new ultra-portable notebook built around a high-quality 12.5-inch IPS display.

The Xnote P220 comes as the successor of the P210, and it features pretty much the same design lines as its predecessors, but it has received updated hardware components to enable it to compete with the new breed of ultra-portables coming out these days.

The most important change is the move to a second generation Intel Core i5 processor, which will replace the old Core i5 470UM found in the P210.

LG hasn't revealed too many details about the chips that will be available, but these are expected to be ultra-low voltage parts, since this decision should enable the Korean company to increase the battery life of the P220.

The rest of the notebook's specifications list includes Wi-Fi 802.11n, Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity with DLNA media sharing enabled, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI video output and a 4-in-1 card reader.

According to the manufacturer, battery life is estimated at a maximum of 5.5 hours, but, unfortunately, we don't know whether the Xnote P220 comes with a removable power pack or not. The Xnote P220 weights roughly 2.9 pounds and is less than an inch thick (0.82 inches to be more precise).

The LG Xnote P220 notebook will be available in Korea starting this month in White Pearl, Pink Pearl, and Blue Pearl. Relatively soon after, the laptop will also be introduced in Europe.

Pricing was not announced, but LG has to keep this under the MSRP of the heavily subsidized Ultrabooks that are expected to arrive in the next couple of months if it wants it to be successful.
