It looks like LG Vu, announced in the fall of 2007, will finally make its debut at AT&T at the end of March 2008, as the carrier's first mobile phone to support Mobile TV. The handset will most probably come at the same time with AT&T's MediaFLO-based mobile TV service that was supposed to be launched at the end of 2007, but some unrevealed difficulties made AT&T postpone its release.
LG Vu (or LG CU920) is a handset that resembles LG Prada, and since Prada is considered one of the nicest candybars to date, there are considerable chances for Vu to become highly successful. The phone is a quad-band GSM device that also comes with UMTS connectivity (850 and 1900 MHz), GRPS, EDGE and HSDPA for data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps.
It packs a 3 inch, 240 x 400 pixels touchscreen display, a touch-based user interface, video and music players, Web browsing and email capabilities, Bluetooth, USB, Java and microSD card support to boost the internal memory. Furthermore, we have Picture ID, Ring ID, caller groups support, multiple numbers per contact and other useful features. The phone's camera performances are not known for the moment, but since LG Prada packs a 2 megapixel one, we can assume (or hope) that Vu will come with a better one. There are no details yet about the retail price of LG Vu. After all, the March launching is not even confirmed and AT&T could actually bring the phone later. Also, the MediaFLO TV service could be again delayed. Verizon Wireless, the second largest US carrier after AT&T, has been offering the MediaFLO services, branded under the VCAST TV name, since March 2007, so AT&T should try to hurry up the launching.
