LG Venus, the fashionable touchscreen candybar, will be available for Canadian mobile users starting April 2008, via Telus Mobility. The handset will come in two color versions, a black/silver one and a pink one, the latter being released at the end of the year's second quarter.

LG Venus is the first touchscreen phone in a series of LG devices that Telus plans to offer to its subscribers during 2008. Moreover, it is the first touchscreen handset to be officially released for the Canadian market (although Apple's iPhone was rumored to come first).

Talking about the approaching launch of the new LG, Andrew Barrett, vice-president of Marketing at LG Electronics Canada, said: "LG is excited to launch our LG Venus Touch phone in Canada with Telus. Canadians looking for style and state-of-the-art technology will love this phone." "With the release of the LG Venus, Canadians will be able to experience touch technology while they listen to their favorite songs and view videos, all packaged in a very attractive two-screen design," added Mr. Barrett.

Coming in a slider form factor and measuring 4.0 x 2.0 x 0.6 inches (101 x 51 x 16 millimeters), LG Venus is indeed a phone that can attract everyone's look. The handset packs a 2 inch TFT touchscreen display with 262k colors and a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, GPS, Video and Music players, Internet capabilities, a 2 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth, USB and microSD card support for up to 8 GB of extended memory.

LG Venus, as well as all the other LG touchscreen phones to be released by Telus during this year, will feature a wide range of entertainment services, like Telus Mobile TV, Telus Mobile Music, Telus Mobile Radio and Telus Navigator.

The price of LG Venus has not been disclosed yet, but Canadian users who are interested in buying it should know that, in the US for example, the good looking slider is offered by Verizon Wireless for $199.99 with a 2-year contract agreement. Most probably, Telus will sell the Venus for a similar price.
