LG Electronics and mobile operator Verizon Wireless have announced the availability of the new LG VX8700, the latest phone to be added to Verizon's offering of stylish LG mobile phones. The slim clamshell was designed with the fashion conscious user in mind and includes a set of convenient features such as a large color screen and 2 megapixel camera.

It also offers all the capabilities music enthusiasts would need such as a media player with support for MP3 and WMA file formats, music only mode and a MicroSD card slot for providing storage space for a collection of tracks. The VX8700 is Get It Now capable and its user will be able to download games, ringtones or wallpapers, surf the mobile web and access most of Verizon's services inlcuding V CAST's Video and 3D Games or V CAST Music.

"The LG VX8700 is yet another handset that pushes the limits of design and function, using newer materials and finishes to give customers the option to be fashionable and practical when choosing a cellphone," said John Maron, senior director of marketing for LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. "We want our customers to be proud of their cellphones when they choose LG. To accomplish that, we must stay on top of what is stylish and hip, yet easy to use. The phone is just that. Cool."

The handset measures 3.82" (h) x 1.95" (w) x 0.54" (d), weighs 3.77 oz and it will last up to 200 minutes of talk time or 240 hours on standby. It will be available for purchase starting April the 6th through Verizon's online store while soon after customers will also be able to find it in the carrier's retail stores. The LG VX8700 will have a price tag of $179.99 after a $50 rebate on a two-year contract.
