Wireless carrier Verizon is said to be gearing up for the release of a new smartphone running under Google’s Android operating system, one that sports the model number LG VS870.

Nothing has been officially announced on the device as of yet, but both the Wi-Fi Alliance and the Bluetooth SIG gave their blessings for the handset’s launch, it seems.

The mobile phone is expected to land on shelves with support for the wireless carrier’s 4G LTE network, while also providing support for the provider’s CDMA service.

Furthermore, it will pack Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n when released, along with Bluetooth 4.0.

No info on the specific Android version the new device will sport has been provided, yet it seems that all will be made official in the beginning of the next year. Stay tuned for more on this.
