In the past few weeks we have seen contradictory rumors about the identity of the device

With every passing hour things seem to be getting more complicated with the LG V510 story. We just reported that a few leaked pictures showcased the device, but we couldn't spot any apparent Nexus branding on it.

Now, one user on Reddit claims he has stumbled upon some source code for the LG-V510 on the LG website, and by the looks of it, we’re dealing with an LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition slate, not with the Nexus 8.

Instead, it appears we’re going to have something like the HTC One Google Play Edition or the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition on our hands.

Google works with the two companies to bring the latest version of Android to Google Play Edition devices, which means these products get new builds like the KitKat 4.4 update faster than other models. Well, not much faster than the Nexus tablets, nevertheless.

Note that the LG-V510 source code is based on Android 4.4.1 KitKat at the moment, while the LG G Pad 8.3 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, so the new tablet will be making quite a jump.

LG has launched its latest tablet effort not so long ago and it has done a pretty good job. We had the chance to spend some time with it a while back and the slate proved easy to handle a lag-free. It features an 8.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and draws power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.

On top of that, LG has embedded some nifty technologies with the device like QPair (allows users to sync the tablet with other devices) or QSlide (allows users to multitask with up to three applications opened at a time).

The slate sells for around $300 - $350 / / $218 - $254, but it might not be a bad idea to wait a bit before purchasing one and wait for the Google Play Edition instead.
