We have reported earlier today that a mysterious tablet showed up in a new Google promo photo, advertising the new Android KitKat build. Is this the Nexus 8 tablet, dubbed LG-V510, we have been hearing about lately?

The folks over at AndroidOS have taken another look at the situation, in an attempt to reevaluate it.

First off, we have seen the LG-V510 get its Bluetooth SIG certification not so long ago. There has been speculation suggesting that the slate might turn out to be an LTE version of the current LG G Pad 8.3 model because the two model names are so similar.

Another speculation is that LG will take up the manufacturing of the Nexus 8 and use a similar blueprint to the LG G Pad 8.3 to build it.

Now, it has been noticed that when the mystery slate was spotted getting its Bluetooth SIG certification, Android 4.4 KitKat wasn't out yet.

But now that it is, a few more details have been added to the table. Like the fact that the build comes with embedded support for Bluetooth HID over GATT (HOGP). Taking another look at the initial LG-V510 filing, it was revealed that the upcoming slate also supports Bluetooth HID over GATT (HOGP).

It’s probably safe to assume now, that the upcoming tablet will come sporting Android 4.4, simply because the other Android versions didn't support this particular Bluetooth profile.

Moving on, it has been announced that Nexus devices will be getting the Android 4.4 update first, so it’s very improbable that another manufacturer already has a non-Nexus prototype lined up.

Regarding the speculation that the LG-V510 is in fact a variant of the LG-V500 G Pad 8.3, the latter does not come with support for Bluetooth HID over GATT (HOGP). Overall, so far all seems to indicate that the LG-V510 will indeed turn out to be the Nexus 8.
