LG electronics has just unveiled its new slim desktop PC systems that come with Intel Turbo Memory technology (also known as Robson). The shiny black notebook case comes with a glossy mirror coating
that, combined with its vertical stance, resembles more of a high end gaming console than of a desktop system.
The XPION R10 Series/S10 Series' featuring Intel's new technology use NAND flash-based memory modules soldered directly on the motherboard. They act like an intermediate layer in the memory hierarchy and prefetch data each time the operation is possible. This memory technology is mostly used on mobile platforms rather than on desktop systems, because it also improves the battery lifespan.
The desktop version of Intel's technology helps the system reduce its boot time, access programs, and write data to the hard drive. It also works on decreasing the hard drive usage by moving the most recently used files over to the flash memory.
The XPION R10 (R10KT.AXE811) is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 running at a default clock speed of 2.66GHz. It comes with 2GB of DDR2 memory with 800MHz front side bus, 500 GB of storage space on a SATA-II enabled disk drive. The graphics system is made of a Nvidia GeForce 8500GT with 512MB of built-in GDRAM3, onboard high-definition audio and a Super Multi DVD writer. The system can be upgraded to either 3GB of RAM, or to Intel's P35 Express Chipset.
The XPION S10 series comes in a more powerful configuration, with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, 720GB of storage space on a SATA-II hard-disk drive, 2GB of RAM and nVIDIA GeForce 8600GT with 256MB of GDRAM to handle the graphics. Neither of the systems ship with a monitor, but you can have the XPION R10 for KRW 1,200,000, while the XPION S10 can be purchased for KRW 1,300,000.
