South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has been reportedly confirmed to plan the launch of the next Nexus smartphone, after releasing the Nexus 4 smartphone last year.

No official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, but a recent article on The Korea Times notes that Google CEO Larry Page visited South Korea recently to discuss the matter with LG.

As UnwiredView notes, Google’s decision to partner with LG on the launch of this smartphone shows that the company was pretty happy with the demand for Nexus 4, although no specific sales numbers have been made public as of now.

With LG Optimus G2 already starting to emerge online, it would not come as a surprise if the next Nexus was be based on it.

Apparently, LG and Google will also work together on other projects, though it remains to be seen what exactly they will involve.
