Major carrier Verizon Wireless is about to launch the LG Spectrum 2 smartphone, the spiritual successor of the Spectrum (VS920), also known as LG Revolution 2.

The Spectrum 2 has been recently spotted in Verizon CelleBrite system, which means it’s now closer to launch. However, we don’t have an exact release date for the LG Spectrum 2, but we suspect Verizon won’t take too long to go live with this Android phone.

The device is also known as LG VS930 or LG Optimus LTE II, and it should be delivered with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

Although both the carrier and the manufacturer have yet to unveil the full specs sheet of the smartphone, there are some details that leaked earlier this month.

At first glance, LG Spectrum 2 is perfectly capable of running Google’s latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform, so we expect the South Korean company to offer an upgrade in the future. Unfortunately, we doubt that LG will be able to deliver a Jelly Bean upgrade to Spectrum 2 by the end of the year.

Anyway, the device looks pretty impressive, so expect this one to be priced in the $150 - $200 USD range on contract. LG Spectrum 2 is said to be equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and 1GB of RAM.

Another strong point of the phone will be the stunning 4.7-inch True IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution.

There’s also an 8-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the Spectrum 2 will offer LTE support and a high-capacity 2150 mAh Li-Ion camera, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
