Having already sold 300 84-inch Ultra HD television sets, LG is now ready to sell a 55-inch model in South Korea.

According to Yonhap News and an LG press release, the company will begin shipping the 55-inch OLED HDTV next week.

It has actually received 100 pre-orders already. Not exactly a high number, but considerable for an expensive and new TV type like organic light emitting diodes.

With Samsung's injunction request against LG OLED now gone, more models are bound to appear as time goes by.

That said, LG hopes to increase its overall HDTV sales by 15% this year. OLED might just ride that momentum and become great in a shorter time than it took LED to replace lamp-based backlighting.

The price of the 55-inch LG OLED display is around $10,000 / 7,500 Euro.
