Since when does wood shine?

LG must be running out of color ideas, as they switched to wood with their Shine great selling line of handsets. Great strategy, although it's left to see just how successful it will be.

We have already had a red version of LG Shine, a golden one, Titanium Black, a Signature Edition and the list goes on with the latest wooden one. That might not sound all that stylish, but LG proves everyone wrong with a smooth and elegant finish. It's more like a piece of parquet with a mirror on the center which magically rings and also enables telecommunication.

The LG Shine Wood LB2500H mobile phone comes equipped with Terrestrial DMB functionality and a technology much more evolved than what a wooden device might suggest. The phone has a 2.2 inch 262k color QVGA display and also includes a 2 megapixel camera. That will take average quality captures that will impress no one, although it might prove to be pretty useful.

It's the same old story that we have seen many times until now with fashion statement mobile phones. They sell great not because of their great features, but due to the design and unique personality they offer. This makes it easy for producers to boost sales without having to do anything on the devices' performances. Just throw in a unique and more personal color and it's like bringing out on the market a completely different device.

LG chose the same strategy with the Shine line of handsets as Motorola did in the case of the RAZR line of phones. For the time being, LG Shine Wood will be available only in Korea. If sales are good here, there are high chances of seeing it in a European release as well. The producer made no specification concerning the handset's price.
