Alltel, the fifth largest US mobile carrier, has recently launched a new music phone, manufactured by the South Koreans from LG and called LG AX585 Rhythm. With such a moniker, it's somehow obvious that the new phone is a music oriented one.

Resembling another new LG music phone, namely the KM500 (reviewed by Softpedia here), Alltel's AX585 Rhythm is a slider that comes with a huge navigation wheel and music-dedicated keys. Unlike KM500's music keys, though, the ones of Rhythm are touch-sensitive, which adds to the coolness of the phone.

The other features of LG Rhythm include: CDMA / EV-DO connectivity, a 240 x 320 pixel display, MP3 player, FM transmitter, Mark Levinson audio technology, City ID (as a pre-loaded application), 3D graphics for a nice gaming experience, Web video streaming, Instant Messaging, SMS, Picture and Video messaging, Voice Activated Command, Notepad, calendar, calculator, alarm clock, stop watch and support for external memory cards of up to 8GB. The AX585 also comes with a 1.3 Megapixel camera, which will probably offer only medium-quality photos.

The new slider weighs 3.95 ounces (112 grams) and, when not slid, it measures 4.55 x 1.93 x 0.65 inches (115 x 49 x 16.5 millimeters). The battery LG packed in the new AX585 Rhythm is, sadly, a weak one being capable of providing only up to 2.1 hours of talk-time or up to 130 hours of stand-by time.

LG Rhythm can be bought as of now from Alltel, in either black or white, for a price of 119.99 USD with a two-year contract agreement.

Rumors say the same phone presented above will be launched via US Cellular too, sometime in November, in black and red. US Cellular's new LG is called UX585 Rhythm and, apparently, it will cost a bit more than the one from Alltel – 125 USD.
