The company filed to trademark G Prime, F Prime, L Prime and W Prime names

Following the release of a new flagship Android-based device in the form of LG G3, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics appears set to bring to the market a variety of new handsets that could very well prove high-end smartphones.

The new series of phones appears to sport the “Prime” moniker and could very well start arriving on shelves in the next several months, though no confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now.

In fact, chances are that the handset vendor will never release these devices, as all that has emerged on them for the time being is a trademark filing.

To be more precise, LG has filed with the USPTO trademark applications for four different smartphone names, including G Prime, F Prime, L Prime, and W Prime.

All four filings are related to handsets, and it would certainly not come as a surprise if they turned out to be new, high-end smartphones from the company.

For those out of the loop, we should note that various other handset vendors out there were also rumored to plan the release of “Prime” devices this year, supposedly nothing else than premium iterations of their current flagships.

HTC and Samsung were said quite a few times before to plan on making such moves, and it appears that LG might be determined to join the party as well.

Should this supposition pan out, we might see the company announcing new, improved variants of some of its latest devices out there, including the LG G3, LG F90 and F70, or LG L90 and L70, as PhoneArena notes.

The only phone that appears to remain a mystery for the time being is the W Prime, though it might not be too far-fetched to assume that LG might be working on Windows Phone 8.1 devices, especially since Microsoft has already confirmed the company as a partner.

Of course, this is only a rumor for the time being, and things might turn out differently in the end, especially with no confirmation on the matter available as of now. Even worse, such smartphones might never be launched.

LG G3 was already released with hardware specs higher than those of other flagship models already available on the market, so it remains to be seen what a premium version of this device might actually have to offer.

Hopefully, more info on these device models will emerge sooner rather than later, so keep an eye on this space for additional details.
