LG’s series of G smartphones might soon be expanded with yet another 5.5-inch device, one that has leaked online under the name of GX, the latest reports out there unveil.

Rumor has it that this phone is set to become the next flagship handset from the South Korean mobile phone maker, and that it will replace the LG G2 that landed on shelves about four months ago, and that proved to be underperforming.

The 5.2-inch LG G2 packs high-end hardware inside, such as a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU and a 13-megapixel camera, yet it seems that it actually failed to impress users as much as LG might have been expecting.

The new device, however, should hit the market with a larger, 5.5-inch screen, though it is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 600 processor, which comes as a surprise, especially after LG said that it would use only the Snapdragon 800 CPU inside new G handsets, as PhoneArena notes.

Provided that LG GX indeed arrives on the market as the high-end smartphone it is supposed to be, it would feature at least 2GB of RAM inside, along with 32GB of internal memory.

Furthermore, we should see it launched with a 13-megapixel camera on the back, the same as LG G2 before it, as well as with a 3140mAh battery, a bit larger than the one included in the current device.

Rumor has it that LG is also planning on packing the new mobile phone with support for LTE-A networks, which should allow it to provide users with enhanced data transfer speeds.

Info on the existence of this smartphone comes only from Korean website PPOMPPU.kr at the moment, though chances are that it will be spotted at various certification forums as well in the not too distant future.

One thing that is certain at the moment is the fact that LG does need a more appealing handset to allow it to grab more market share out there. The 5.5-inch LG Optimus G Pro proved a successful smartphone, and the new device could follow in its footsteps.
