The handset maker has run out of Optimus 7 devices

One of the first Windows Phone devices launched on the market, the LG Optimus 7 has been discontinued by most carriers.

However, customers who still own the device and do not plan to upgrade to a superior device in the next few months may be unpleasantly surprised by a fault in the Optimus 7 motherboard, which renders the device unusable.

Italian blog Plaffo claims numerous Optimus 7 owners report their smartphones do not boot anymore and are stuck on the LG logo.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a hardware-related problem, so any attempt to restore of the phone’s software will prove futile.

As long as the Optimus 7 is still covered by the LG-offered warranty, everything should be fine, unless LG does not have another Windows Phone device in stock to replace the faulty smartphone.

Yes, it appears that the South Korean company’s replacement stock has run out of Windows Phone devices. Obviously, those who really need a replacement until their Optimus 7 gets repaired will receive another phone, just not another Windows Phone handset.

Surprisingly, LG is offering these customers the Optimus 3D Android phone to use until their Optimus 7 handsets get repaired.

Moreover, if the LG Optimus 7’s issue proves to be beyond repair, then the South Korean company will provide customers with a document to sign to receive a different device.

As we already mentioned earlier, LG usually recommends these Optimus 7 owners to choose the Android-powered LG Optimus 3D instead, but we’re not sure if they can choose other models as well.

Plaffo also mentions that those who asked to receive another Windows Phone device such as the LG Jil Sander were met with negative replies.

Furthermore, they’ve been informed that LG does not have any other Windows Phone device that could replace the faulty Optimus 7 smartphones.
