They can work as PC monitors and TVs at the same time

Many monitors and HDTVs of our days have interchangeable roles, since the video inputs, or some of them, are available on both. LG decided to make it so that displays can fulfill these roles at once.

There is a certain capability that many monitor makers don't bother including in the majority of their creations, since prospective customers usually have different screens for different things.

In other words, they use a monitor for their PC and an actual HDTV for television broadcasts and media players.

There are still some who might wish to have both functions in a single device, and that is where LG's two new inventions come in.

Called DM2752 and M2752, they are HDTVs (High-Definition TVs) with two special assets: Picture-in-Picture functionality (PIP) and dual-HDMI input.

That's right, buyers can hook up their set-top box, or another media source with HDMI, and have the PC linked to the TV/monitor at the same time, through the second HDMI.

The PIP will have the TV show playing in one window, while the second window will show whatever the PC is running, be it a game, a web browser, document editing program, etc.

"With the integration of multimedia entertainment and the Internet, LG is at the frontier of cutting-edge TV technology," said J.J. Lee, executive vice president and head of IT Business Unit of LG Home Entertainment Company.

"We are developing unique personal TVs designed to meet the needs of changing consumer habits, whether that customer's passion is 3D gaming, internet browsing or simply watching their favorite sitcom."

The LG DM2752 and M2752 possess 24-inch IPS panels (In-Plane Switching) and Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels). The former even boasts 3D support (CINEMA 3D technology).

Finally, LG tossed in the Dual Play function on the DM2752, which allows two different gamers to see a different full screen image at the same time by taking advantage of the 3D capability. Instead of displaying two sets of images at the same time and getting them synchronized through the glasses, the one wearing the glasses actually gets to see a completely different game feed. R.I.P. Split-screen multiplayer.

The M2752 is said to already be selling in Europe, but its price was not specified for some reason. The DM2752 won't appear before July.
