Mobile phone carrier AT&T and South Korean mobile phone maker LG have just announced the availability of a new Windows Phone 7-based device on the wireless carrier's airwaves, the LG Quantum.

The new handset is the third Windows Phone 7 device to make an appearance on AT&T's network in the United States, and was made available for purchase via the carriers' website, as well as via AT&T company-owned retail stores nationwide.

LG Quantum is available exclusively on AT&T's airwaves in the country, offering a brand new experience to all users, via the dynamic Live Tiles and Hubs that were included with it.

Moreover, the smartphone comes with a large 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen display, complemented by a slide-out horizontal QWERTY keyboard, being the first Windows Phone 7 device in the US with this form factor.

The specifications list of this device also includes a 1GHz processor, complemented by 16GB of built-in memory, and a 5.0 megapixel, auto-focus camera with flash and with 720p HD video recording capabilities. The mobile phone can stream content to DLNA-DMR equipped entertainment devices, while packing Wi-Fi capabilities, as well as ActiveSync for seamless synchronization of email, work and personal contact information.

Not to mention that it comes with 10 free apps from the Windows Phone Marketplace, including Workout Tracker, Scan Search augmented reality and Tool Box, with Unit Converter, Level, Flashlight, and more.

“LG Quantum gives users the freedom to organize their lives while on-the-go by delivering a distinctive blend of innovative tools and efficient design,” said Tim O’Brien, vice president of trade and consumer marketing for LG Mobile Phones.

“Providing faster communication, integrated messaging and breakthrough multimedia experiences, LG Quantum is a smartphone device unlike any other.”

The new Windows Phone 7 device was made available for purchase at AT&T with a price tag of $199.99 attached to it upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement.
