LG: Put Your Favorite TV Program on Hold

The LG SB130, code-named KB 1300, has all the chances of becoming the favorite toy for those who enjoy receiving TV programs on their cell phone via satellite.

LG's phone allows its owners to pause the broadcast in order to take a call. Practically, everything is based on an illusion. When the user is notified with a message that there is a call waiting and he/she pauses the TV program, the LG SB130 will start recording, and the user will see a "frozen" image.

After the conversation is over, the program will be resumed from the point the user paused it. LG's officials said that the 80MB the phone is fitted with are enough to record one hour of video broadcast.

Currently, the LG phone is only compatible with South Korea's CDMA cell phone network. Its QVGA display is capable of resolutions of up to 240x320 pixels and ensures the quality of the image. In addition, the phone is fitted with a TV output connector and can be used as a MP3 player.

Receiving TV programs on cell phones via satellite is the latest fashion in South Korea, where companies like Samsung and Pantech have launched handheld devices that support this kind of technology.

The price for LG SB130 hasn't been revealed yet, but the company's officials appraise it at $700. The phone will reach the markets towards the end of the year.
