South Korean mobile phone maker LG has announced a new milestone reached in its homeland market, with over 5 million LTE-enabled sold in the market over the past 18 months, new reports suggest.

The company launched its first such device in South Korea in October 2011, the Optimus LTE, and managed to expand its lineup with new phones in the Optimus and Vu series, which helped it reach said milestone.

At the moment, LG has 8 LTE smartphones available for purchase in Korea, namely the LG Optimus LTE, Optimus LTE Tag, Optimus Vu, Optimus LTE II, Optimus G, Optimus Vu II, Optimus G Pro and Optimus LTE III, PhoneArena notes.

At the beginning of the last month, the company also announced sales of LTE handsets of over 10 million worldwide.

Furthermore, it seems that the company is also considering the launch of new LTE-capable smartphones, so as to increase its presence in this market segment.
